Before Casino was even released, Martin Scorsese admitted he included the infamous “head in a vice” scene as a decoy — expecting the MPAA would demand it be cut. His plan? Sacrifice one extreme moment to protect the rest of the film’s violence.
But the MPAA didn’t object.
So Scorsese kept the scene — with only slight edits.
In a candid Blu-ray interview, he said:
“There’s no plot at all. It’s three hours, no plot… a lot of story, a lot of action — but no plot.”
Also, Sharon Stone had her own behind-the-scenes tactic.
She told young Erica von Tagen — who played her daughter Amy — to annoy James Woods constantly on set. Why?
Because most of Woods’ lines were improvised — including the tense wedding phone call. And she wanted his reactions real.
