Olena is from Ukraine and was raised in the Czech Republic, and Isaac is from Rhode Island. To support the people of West Maui after the Lahaina wildfires, Common Kings came to Honokowai Beach Park in Lahaina to play an intimate show. The show was not posted on their social media and was only spread through word of mouth. Normally, Common Kings sell out huge arenas, but this show was only about 700 or so people, most of whom had lost their homes in the fire. The show was completely free, as were all the supplies at the pop-up tents at Honokowai Beach Park. As of this August 27th, Honokowai continues to be a hub of support for the people of West Maui with volunteers donating all of their free time to this cause.

UN PIANO CUBANO QUE SE ATREVE A TODOS LOS RITMOS
El pianista Luis Lugo desembarcará hoy en Neuquén con un concierto único.
El músico oriundo de Cuba, cultiva un estilo muy particular. Su repertorio va desde la salsa y el son cubano a las obras clásicas.
NEUQUEN (AN).- Cuba le ha dado al mundo grandes cosas. Le regaló los famosos habanos y el ron, la alegría de la salsa y el son y eximios talentos como Silvio Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés y Omara Portuondo. Pero también le entregó al mundo, uno de sus tantos hijos pródigos, el talentoso pianista cubano Luis Lugo, que se convirtió con el transcurso de los años en un embajador de la música de la isla y de toda su cultura.
Lugo desde hace décadas se dedica a desparramar por cada rincón del planeta la música latinoamericana y principalmente la cubana, y hoy los neuquinos tendrán el placer de ver cómo este músico logra que las teclas de su piano "hablen". Se presentará hoy a las 22 en el salón Rainbow de Casino Magic.
Su repertorio recorrerá grandes obras cubanas y latinoamericanas, piezas del jazz latino y de compositores reconocidos mundialmente como Ernesto Lecuona, Cervantes, Amadeo Roldán, Harold Gramatges, Ginastera y Guastavino. También habrá un espacio para Astor Piazzolla, Camargo y Guarnieri.
Luis Lugo cultiva un estilo muy amplio y particular. Su música es una síntesis entre la cultura clásica universal con un lenguaje específico orientado a la música cubana.
Su vinculación con el pianista ruso Rudolf Kerer, quien se convirtió en un referente para de su formación como pianista.
Ya en sus años como estudiante, fue galardonado con importantes premios a su desempeño en diferentes escenarios de Cuba. Fue diploma de destacados en los festivales de jóvenes.
En 1983 obtuvo los títulos de pianista concertista, licenciado en música, profesor y "master of fine arts" del conservatorio Tchaikovsky de Moscú, tras un examen en el que alcanzó la máxima puntuación con las "Sonatas de Scarlatty" , "Sonata en hmoll" de Liszt y el "Concierto 3 en re menor para piano y orquesta" de Rachmaninoff. Escribió obras para teatro musical como "Cuba: mitos y leyendas", para piano y solista, banda magnetofónica y tres actores; y "Lecuona" para piano, percusión cubana y gran orquesta sinfónica.
Lugo es uno de los pianistas que logró combinar géneros tan complicados y disímiles como la música clásica y el son cubano, con una calidad de excelencia y un virtuosismo a flor de piel. Es un hombre orquesta que merece ser escuchado y apreciado en su totalidad escénica.
El concertista internacional no solamente reivindica a la música popular de esa isla caribeña sino que además se embarcó en la búsqueda de una sonoridad nueva para aplicarla a clásicos cubanos como "Lágrimas negras" y "20 años, 20 desengaños".
No solamente se enfocó en oxigenar rítmicamente a la canción de su tierra, sino que también experimentó con otros hits del mundo iberoamericano, como "Angelitos negros", "La Mercedita", "Sombras" y "Ansiedad". Desde hace años, Lugo viene recorriendo región por región de la Argentina.
Con una impronta más moderna, Lugo ejecuta en sus conciertos un set de sones cubanos, un ritmo que remarca el "espíritu de pueblo bailarín que tiene Cuba". Y lo hace entregando el son cubano propiamente dicho y el son montuno.
El montuno es un estilo de música al cual, el compositor cubano le introdujo solos de instrumentos que se llaman montunos. Se inspiró del guaguancó, acentuó la trompeta y la guitarra tres, e introdujo nuevos instrumentos como la conga y el piano.
