Macau (澳門; 澳门), also spelled Macao and officially the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, is a city and special administrative region of the People's Republic of China in the western Pearl River Delta by the South China Sea. With a population of about 680,000 and an area of 32.9 km2 (12.7 sq mi), it is the most densely populated region in the world.
Macau is a former colony of the Portuguese Empire, after Ming China leased the territory as a trading post in 1557. Portugal paid an annual rent and administered the territory under Chinese sovereignty until 1887, when it gained perpetual colonial rights in the Sino-Portuguese Treaty of Peking. The colony remained under Portuguese rule until 1999, when it was transferred to China. Macau is a special administrative region of China, which maintains separate governing and economic systems from those of mainland China under the principle of "one country, two systems".
The first known written record of the name "Macau", rendered as "Ya/A Ma Gang" ("亞/阿-媽/馬-港"), is found in a letter dated 20 November 1555. The local inhabitants believed that the sea-goddess Mazu (alternatively called A-Ma) had blessed and protected the harbour and called the waters around A-Ma Temple using her name. When Portuguese explorers first arrived in the area and asked for the place name, the locals thought they were asking about the temple and told them it was "Ma Kok" (媽閣).
Macau Peninsula had many names in Chinese, including Jing'ao (井澳/鏡澳), Haojing (濠鏡), and Haojing'ao (濠鏡澳). The islands Taipa, Coloane, and Hengqin were collectively called Shizimen (十字門). These names would later become Aomen (澳門), Oumún in Cantonese and translating as "bay gate" or "port gate", to refer to the whole territory. (from Wikipedia)

Looking for a great buffet in Vegas? I think I’ve found just the place thanks to the many comments and suggestions I’ve received. The Studio B Buffet at the M Resort is an amazing buffet offering great value and a bountiful spread of foods and drinks that will please all.
I had a chance to visit their weekend seafood dinner buffet and was awestruck by the quality and amount of dishes and the all inclusive bar at around $40USD. A great value especially considering its vegas. While it’s technically on the Strip, it’s located very far south and does require some mode of transportation, but do make the journey -- it is well worth it. Along with the amazing seafood buffet, the servers and staff are super friendly and fantastic to interact with.
Noteworthy dishes include the whole roasted suckling pig, endless mounds of crab and seafood, and delectable desserts. All dishes where well made; fried items were crisp and hot, seafood was fresh and plentiful, and dishes from from different cultures were quite authentic. If the buffets on the Vegas strip are becoming a disappointment and eating a hole in your wallet, give this place a try :-)
