What if one small garden could change everything?

Through the Grow Garden Initiative by The InnerCity Mission for Children, volunteers are transforming simple spaces into sources of food, income, and hope for indigent families and vulnerable communities.

In Tonj Town, South Sudan, dedicated volunteers embraced this vision by establishing vegetable gardens for families and communities in need.

Land that once sat empty is now producing fresh food, creating sustainability, and restoring dignity for many families.

What began as a simple effort is now spreading across communities, inspiring more people to grow their own food and build healthier futures.

Across our network of 100% free schools, gardens are also being cultivated to give children practical agricultural experience while ensuring access to fresh and nutritious meals.

It is learning, feeding, and empowerment all in one initiative.

🌿 Why This Matters

When families can grow what they eat, we do not just respond to hunger we tackle it at the root.

  • Fresh vegetables all year round
  • Reduced dependence on expensive or processed food
  • Better nutrition for children
  • A valuable skill that lasts a lifetime

You do not need a large farm to begin. Gardens can grow in buckets, sacks, old tires, school compounds, orphanages, open spaces within communities, and even IDP camps.

Every seed planted carries the potential to nourish lives and restore hope.

Sometimes, changing the world begins with something as small as a garden.
