InnerCity Mission Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Construction of her 8th Tuition-free School

The InnerCity Mission, under the auspices of the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International, officially broke ground for the construction of a new school in Ewu community, Edo State, Nigeria on the 31st of August 2021. The auspicious ceremony had in attendance Partners, dignitaries, traditional leaders and key stakeholders from the community.
The highly esteemed Evang. Dr. Eddy Owase giving a speech on behalf of the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International (COFI) said ”We understand that the effects of poverty on children are wide-reaching and can lead to lifelong struggles especially when they don’t receive a full education. With fewer resources and less focus on education at home, children growing up in poverty are behind from the very beginning. Children living in poverty may stop going to school so they can work which leaves them without literacy or numeracy skills required to access better opportunities.”
Once completed, the school will serve the children within the community and environs providing them with 100% tuition-free primary education. This school is our latest addition to our existing network of 8 schools and is a testament of our commitment to send 100,000 children back to school and build new schools in underserved communities. Volunteers Reach Out to Leper Colony in India
|
|
Propelled by the words of our founder, Rev. Dr. Chris Oyakhilome "...faith has a voice, love has a touch. We must reach to embrace the hopeless outcast...", volunteers of the InnerCity Mission in India reached the Lepers Colony in Balanda, Odisha State India. They distributed food items to families in the colony.
These families have lived in isolation for years because of their health conditions. Touched by the unconditional love of the volunteers, they expressed their gratitude profusely. Their gratitude was not only for the food items received but also for the Learning Center set up by the volunteers where children in the colony are engaged weekly and receive academic support and mentoring.
