WELCOME TO THE YEAR OF REDEMPTION!!!

Creating a Zero-Hunger World

Have you ever gone to bed hungry not because there is nothing to eat, but having plenty, you chose not to?  Now take a second to think of those that go to bed hungry not because they have a choice like you, but because as a result of poverty they do not have to eat and this is their everyday reality.

In a world where there is enough food to go around, world hunger is on the rise. According to reports, close to a billion people; one-eighth of the world’s population still live in hunger. Every year, 2 million children die from malnutrition. Sounds sad right?

Nutritionists recommend that children are required to eat three times a day, but with the statistics given above for indigent children facing hunger crisis, having access to even one meal is a day-to-day struggle.

I remember vividly at one of the IDP camps where I embarked on a mission trip with the InnerCity Mission to render humanitarian services, a mother arrived with an almost lifeless baby girl at one of the tents which attended to nursing mothers and their children. Salim, the mother of the child, did not look good herself, frail, starved, and famished, she held on tightly to her baby.

The volunteer doctor on duty examined baby Nadene and explained to Salim that her baby was suffering from kwashiorkor, a severe case of malnutrition. Immediately baby Nadene received medical attention and after some days of close monitoring, they were discharged and reunited with the rest of the family along with take-home food parcels.

Now imagine being Salim, apart from suffering from hunger, she was on the verge of losing her child because of malnutrition. Situations should never become so dire before someone gets help.

A #ZeroHungerWorld is achievable thanks to our ongoing impactful campaign, the Hunger Action Month (HAM). This campaign seeks to end child poverty and hunger by delivering meals to indigent children and needy families living in underserved communities. You can also take part in helping women like Salim and her child today. All you have to do is take ACTION NOW by sponsoring meals, CLICK HERE https://icm.ngo/ham-givenow
