Have you ever visited a place which completely over exceeded even your highest expectation of it?
Well, this was our experience when we visited Monaco and Menton - both places took our breath away and we took away some great memories too (even when we got totally lost in Monaco 😂)
Our tips:
⭐Stay overnight - there are soooooooooo many things to do in both Monaco and Menton. We thought we could do both places in one day… well, we did… but we had to sacrifice a few attractions that we wanted to visit to accommodate both, and we were super tired by the end of the long day especially with the added heat of the summer sun.
⭐Visiting Monte Carlo's casino - you can enter the main entrance of the casino for free (after bag check at the doors) between 10 am and 1pm for sightseeing (2pm onward is when the gaming takes full swing). But if you wish to take a stroll inside the gaming room, there is an entrance fee and you must bring your passport otherwise you may not be able to enter. We'll leave a link of the casino's website below.
⭐ Visiting Café de Paris - there are different queues at the entrance, one for the café or one for the restaurant. You don't need to make a reservation for the café if you just want a drink (or an ice cream) but you do need to wait to be assigned a table. This is a popular place to visit, and we have heard that there can be a long waiting time. So, we recommend coming here outside of peak times - we arrived before lunch time and we didn't have to wait long at all.
⭐ Take the bus - if you're staying in Nice, we recommend taking the bus to Monte Carlo. The last stop is literally a short walk away from the casino and Café de Paris. And FYI, you can use the Lignes d’Azur’s La Carte travel pass for the journey... your welcome! 😁
