The mall that connects Mandalay Bay, Luxor, and Excalibur is called the Mandalay Place. It's an elevated, enclosed shopping promenade that spans the walkway between Mandalay Bay and Luxor, and by extension, connects Excalibur via the free indoor tram and walkway system.
Here’s a breakdown of what you should know:
🛍️ Mandalay Place Overview
Opened: 2003
Length: About a quarter mile (roughly 310,000 square feet of space)
Location: Sits above the street-level traffic on Las Vegas Boulevard (the Strip), connecting Mandalay Bay and Luxor directly.
Access: Easily walkable indoors, air-conditioned, and includes moving walkways and escalators. From Excalibur, you can take a free tram to Mandalay Bay (with a stop at Luxor), or walk via interconnected indoor paths.
🛒 Shops, Restaurants & Attractions
While Mandalay Place isn’t a massive shopping center like Forum Shops at Caesars, it has hosted a variety of unique and quirky stores, eateries, and experiences over the years. These have included:
Ron Jon Surf Shop – A rare inland outpost of the coastal surf brand.
LUSH – The handmade cosmetics store.
Chapel at Mandalay Place – For quick Vegas weddings.
Slice of Vegas – A pizza and Italian spot.
Hussong’s Cantina – Claimed to be the original home of the margarita.
Minus5° Ice Bar – A themed bar made entirely of ice (there’s also one inside Mandalay Bay proper).
Art of Shaving, Flip Flop Shops, and other boutique-style retailers.
Note: As of recent years, some storefronts have closed or changed due to shifting tourism trends and retail impacts, but the corridor is still operational and regularly trafficked.
🚝 Tram System (Mandalay Bay - Luxor - Excalibur)
In addition to the mall walkway, there’s a free tram that makes it easy to travel between the three properties without walking:
Southbound Tram: Stops at all three resorts (Excalibur → Luxor → Mandalay Bay).
Northbound Tram: Goes express from Mandalay Bay to Excalibur.
🏙️ Why It Matters
The Mandalay-Luxor-Excalibur complex is one of the largest interconnected resort groupings on the Strip, all owned by MGM Resorts International. Together, they offer over 11,000 hotel rooms, multiple entertainment venues, and shared amenities. For visitors, it means a more climate-controlled, pedestrian-friendly way to explore multiple resorts without needing to go outside in the extreme Vegas heat.
