Tijuana nació como ciudad de excesos. Mientras Estados Unidos prohibía el alcohol en los años veinte, aquí florecieron los bares, los casinos y los clubes nocturnos. Desde sus inicios, la frontera fue un negocio.
A lo largo del siglo, cambió la droga, cambió el cliente, pero el negocio siguió. Del whisky al cannabis. De la marihuana al fentanilo. Del glamour de Agua Caliente al terror de las ejecuciones diarias.
En los años noventa, Tijuana se convirtió en campo de batalla. El Cártel de los Arellano Félix impuso una era de sangre. Policías comprados, políticos coludidos, periodistas asesinados. La ciudad se partía en zonas de control.
En el nuevo milenio, el CJNG y el Cártel de Sinaloa comenzaron a disputar cada esquina. La violencia escaló con nuevos ingredientes: armas de alto poder, migrantes usados como mulas, laboratorios en rancherías.
Hoy, Playas de Tijuana está bajo dominio del CJNG. Otay lo controla Sinaloa. El centro es zona de nadie. Las ejecuciones siguen, las desapariciones también. Las autoridades presumen estadísticas, pero cada noche hay nuevas fosas.
Mientras la frontera siga siendo negocio, el crimen organizado seguirá escribiendo su historia. Una historia donde el protagonista siempre es el silencio.
